OAK BEAMS
Venables are one of the few timber merchants in the UK carrying large stocks of European oak beams both fresh sawn and air dried. This helps to achieve a quick turnaround for standard sizes. A working lifetime's experience has given us a thorough knowledge of the different methods of sawing and production and the end use of our products. Current availability on our European Oak beams is 5-7 working days from receipt of your order.
Due to the natural drying process of Air Dried Oak, it will contain surface checking, splits, possibly an arris of sap and will be grey/silver in colour. If the size is not a standard square section it may be cut from an air dried beam so the pieces will have two weathered and two bright faces. Some black bore holes are acceptable.

Used for external and internal work. Cut from ex 3-5 year air drying beams. They will contain surface checking, small splits and in the larger sections possibly an arris of sap.

Used for external work only. Freshly cut from new oak logs.
