Venables have been working with many of the best sawmills in Europe since the early 1900’s when we started to source Beech and hornbeam from northern France for the shoe heel industry. Quality Oak and Beech is like wine and grades with differing characteristics are grown in different regions and worked in sawmills with specific techniques. Our understanding of this wonderful natural resource is based on a lifelong passion for our material.

At Venables our traditional skills and understanding of the raw material are backed up by modern design and processing technologies to ensure a first class product and service.

Our concern for quality also extends to our environment, minimising waste and maximising resource utilisation. We source from properly managed forests and we can supply PEFC certified hardwoods with an approved chain of custody certification if required.
